Physicians

Jessica Bailey, MD

Jessica Bailey, MD earned her Medical Degree at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. She completed her internship and residency at Montana Family Medicine Residency in Billings. Dr. Bailey's Bachelor's degree is in biology with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina with minors in women's studies and chemistry.

Mikael Bedell, MD

Mikael Bedell, MD earned his Doctor of Medicine at The Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. He received his residency at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, where he served as Chief Resident in 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science, cum laude in Animal Sciences – Bioscience and Technology from the University of New Hampshire, in Durham, N.H.   

Clarence "Jaron" Brunson, MD

Clarence Brunson, MD earned his Medical Degree at Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands-Antilles. He completed his residency at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho. Prior to joining St. Peter’s Health, Dr. Brunson worked as a physician and Chief Medical Officer at the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming in Casper, WY. He is a board certified member of the American Board of Family Medicine

Jenifer Dodge, MD

Jenifer Dodge, MD has experience in the full-spectrum of family practice care including obstetrics. She moved to Helena from Conrad where she had practiced previously. Dr. Dodge earned her Medical Degree at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno and completed a residency at Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in biology from Carroll College.

Chelsey Field, DO

Chelsey Field, DO earned her Medical Degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed a Residency at Montana Family Medicine in Billings. Dr. Field is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Academy and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Andrew Gilbert, MD

Andrew Gilbert, MD, came to Helena from St. Mary's Hospital in Cottonwood, Idaho, where he had been practicing Family Medicine for five years. Dr. Gilbert earned his Medical Degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in 2006. He attended Carroll College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.

Kiley Kirksey, MD

Kiley Kirksey, MD earned her Medical Degree in 2008 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.  She completed a family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Area Health Education Center-Pine Bluff.  Dr. Kirksey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

David Krainacker, MD

David Krainacker, MD is a board certified family practice physician. He received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Krainacker completed his Family Practice residency training at Penn State University.

Katrina Maher, MD

Katrina Maher, MD earned her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and her Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Biology at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Dr. Maher is a board certified member of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Kyle Moore, DO

Kyle Moore, DO earned his medical degree at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Wash., and his bachelor of science at Brigham Young University – Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho. Dr. Moore completed his family medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic and was elected the chief resident in his final year. He then completed a fellowship in addiction medicine at the University of Utah. Dr. Moore enjoys serving a diverse set of patients in his Family Medicine practice. He provides a broad range of care, including treating chronic diseases, musculoskeletal injuries and drug and alcohol use disorders, as well as providing pediatric care and joint injections. He is a board-certified member of the American Board of Family Medicine.

David Mulholland, MD

David Mulholland, MD earned his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Dickson College in Carlisle, PA. He went on to complete his family medicine internship and residency at East Carolina University/Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC. Dr. Mulholland is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Diane Nowak, MD

Diane Nowak, MD, a Montana native, moved to Helena from Oregon where she served as a primary care physician. She also served as the County Health Officer in Baker City, Oregon, and as an independent physician in Yuma, Haxtun, and Fort Collins, CO.  Dr. Nowak earned her Medical Degree at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences at Montana State University. She completed her residency and internship at Fort Collins Family Medicine in Colorado.

Sara O’Connell, MD

Sara O’Connell, MD sees patients in the areas of Family Practice and Obstetrics at St. Peter’s Medical Group Broadway.  Dr. O’Connell earned her Medical Degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Carroll College.  Dr. O'Connell grew up in Centerville.

Beth “Betty” Plate, MD

Beth “Betty” Plate, MD practices at St. Peter’s Medical Group Broadway with a specialty in family medicine and OB. Procedures she conducts include OB care, trigger point and joint injections, and issues relating to women’s health. Prior to joining St. Peter’s Hospital, Dr. Plate completed her medical residency from the University of New Mexico Family and Community Medicine in Albuquerque, N.M. She earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colo.

Hallie Tipton, MD

Hallie Tipton, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA, after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. She completed her family medicine residency at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. Dr. Tipton is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Todd Wampler, MD

Todd Wampler, MD is a Capital High graduate who went on to an undergraduate degree at Carroll College, and obtained his medical degree at the University of Michigan. His love of the West brought him back to Colorado for his family medicine internship and residency, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. There he served as Chief Resident and was named Colorado's Family Medicine Resident of the Year in 1999. Following his residency, he remained in Colorado, serving as a family physician in the U.S. Air Force, at Buckley Air Force Base, where he was appointed Chief of Medical Staff.

Katy Wessel, DO

Katy Wessel, DO is a family practice physician who practices obstetrics, women's reproductive health, and preventative care. Dr. Wessel moved to Helena from Oregon where she completed a family practice residency program. She received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Touro University in Vallejo, Calif., and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology at Montana State University-Bozeman. Dr. Wessel has also worked as a microbiologist and veterinary laboratory specialist.

Advanced Care Providers

Laura Bennett, PA-C

Laura Bennett, PA-C earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.  She graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Montana.

Ashley Berkram, PA-C

Ashley Berkram, PA-C graduated from the Masters of Physician Assistant Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT.  She earned a Bachelor’s of Biology and Chemistry for the University of Sioux Falls, in Sioux Falls, SD. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Montana Academy of Physician Assistants. 

McCall Elverum, DNP, FNP-C

McCall Elverum, DNP, FNP-C earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Montana State University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature with a minor in Mathematics from Montana State University before attending nursing school. Prior to earning her doctorate in nursing practice, McCall worked as a registered nurse for over ten years. She has been employed at St. Peter’s Health since 2014, starting as a nurse on the Medical Floor and then transitioning to care management before joining the Family Medicine team as a Nurse Practitioner. McCall is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Abigail “Abby” Todd, NP

Abigail “Abby” Todd, NP earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN), with a focus in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC) from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a focus in Health Promotion and Health Behavior from Oregon State University in Corvallis. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Abby was a Registered Nurse Case Manager for the Home Health department at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Jenna Reitz, FNP

Jenna Reitz, FNP received her Master of Science degree in nursing from Graceland University in Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from DeSales University in Pennsylvania as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in biobehaviorial health and minor in women’s studies from Pennsylvania State University. 

Bev Roope, FNP-C

Bev Roope, FNP-C received her Master of Science in Nursing from MSU-Billings and she has been on staff at St. Peter's since 2005.

Stephen Scranton, PA

Stephen Scranton, PA earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. He received his Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana. Stephen is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. 

Morgan Teegarden, PA-C

Morgan Teegarden, PA-C received her MS in Physician Assistant Studies with a focus on rural health from Pacific University School of Physician Assistant Studies in Hillsboro, OR. The Rural Health Track focused on issues pertinent to the practice of medicine and addressing health issues in rural communities. She holds a BS in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Montana State University in Bozeman.

Meagan Watne, NP

Meagan Watne, NP, earned her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to earning her master’s in nursing practice, Meagan worked as a registered nurse and clinic coordinator at St. Peter’s Health for nearly ten years. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.   

Lanae Williams, PA-C

Lanae Williams, PA-C earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Before joining St. Peter’s Medical Group, Williams practiced at the Pondera Medical Center Clinic in Conrad, Mont.  Williams is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and holds a Montana Physician Assistant license.

Leslie Wilson, FNP-C

Leslie Wilson, FNP-C is a primary care provider for wellness and chronic illness, specializing in women’s health care and diabetes.  Wilson earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Sage Graduate School in Troy, New York.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, and also a Bachelor of Science Degree in Jewelry Design from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, New York.

LeeAnne Yonchek, PA-C

LeeAnne Yonchek, PA-C holds a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and a Bachelor’s in Biology from Rocky Mountain College. She comes to St. Peter’s Health from St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings where she most recently worked on the Medical Oncology floor.

Megan Zawacki, PA

Megan Zawacki, PAC earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, and her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Carroll College. She is a member of the Montana Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Melissa Zimmerman, FNP-C

Melissa Zimmerman, FNP-C is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Kaplan University, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University. She is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
