Andraya Hitchner, CNM earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, and continued on to practice as a labor and delivery nurse for seven years. Meanwhile, she completed a Certified Professional Midwifery apprenticeship at Wise Women Care Associates in Grants Pass, Oregon, after which she provided complete pregnancy care for women seeking birth at home and/or in a birth center. After realizing the importance of the Art of Midwifery and the positive experiences and outcomes it provides for moms, babies and families, Andraya became a nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing Education at Georgetown University’s graduate program in Washington, D.C., in 2018. Now, her approach to pregnancy and gynecological care includes integrating the patient-led experience of home and birth center care into the clinic and hospital-birth environments.
