St. Peter’s Health presented BEE Awards to Referral Agent Wendy Graffam and Community Health Worker Mark Nay. A companion to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, the BEE Award is given to any exceptional general or professional St. Peter’s staff member nominated by patients, family members and/or colleagues.
The colleague who nominated Graffam wanted to recognize her for her grace under pressure and her ability to turn what was initially a negative experience for a patient into a positive one. "Wendy took the time to listen to the patient's needs and let her know that she would get someone in leadership to call her back and help turn this experience around. Wendy also made sure that everything that needed to be addressed regarding the patient was being worked on if not already done."
The colleagues who nominated Nay said that he always finds a way to help a patient in need. "Even when faced with challenges as a patient with no working phone number and other life challenges, Mark always finds a way to help the patient succeed and continue to engage in their healthcare."
