Popcorn with Herbs

Yield
Makes 16 cups of popcorn

Ingredients
1 cup popcorn kernels
3 tsp oil
1 tsp salt
1 bunch fresh dill

Instructions

  1. For best results, cook the popcorn in two batches, ½ cup at a time.
  2. Add 1 ½ teaspoons of oil to the bottom of a large stockpot. Let the oil heat for 30 seconds.
  3. Add ½ cup of popcorn to the pot, swirl the pot to stir. Cover pot.
  4. Swirl the pot often to prevent burning, but keep in contact with the heat.
  5. Cook time is approximately 3 minutes. Once popping slows, remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for one minute covered.
  6. When popping has stopped, add popped corn to a large bowl and repeat with the remaining popcorn and oil.
  7. While popcorn is popping, or waiting for it to cool. Have kids tear pieces of dill into small pieces (the size of ants).
  8. Serve popcorn in individual bowls, and each person can add their own pinch or two of dill and salt.

Popcorn is a whole grain! Soluble fiber in whole grains can reduce the risk of heart disease.
