Frequently Asked Questions

We recognize that you may have some additional questions regarding this transition. Below is a list of frequently asked questions. If you have questions beyond those outlined, please reach out to our Orthopedics team at 406-457-4160 and we’d be happy to assist you.

Do I need to fill out any new paperwork with this transition?

Yes, you will need to provide basic information at your next appointment such as your birth date, address, contact information and insurance information so we can add you to our system.

Will my insurance still be accepted?

St. Peter’s Health accepts most major insurance plans, but may not be contracted with all of them. To verify we are in-network with your specific insurance, please contact your insurance carrier.

Will my scheduled surgery be affected?

No. Your surgery will proceed as scheduled, unless another conflict arises.

Will my current treatment plan or authorization need to be re-approved?

In most cases a treatment plan will need to be re-authorized. Our Prior Authorization team is working to complete your authorization as quickly as possible, but there may be some delays as insurance companies can take up to 30 days to approve these requests. If you have any questions about your treatment authorization, please reach out to our billing team at 406-447-2783.

How will billing work?

If you received care at Helena Orthopaedic Clinic before your provider transitioned to St. Peter’s Health, you will receive a bill from Helena Orthopeadic Clinic with instructions on how to pay. Any care you receive after the transition will be billed from St. Peter’s Health. If you have questions regarding billing, please call:

  • Helena Orthopaedic Clinic Billing: 406-324-4111
  • St. Peter’s Health Billing: 406-447-2783

Will St. Peter’s have access to my health records from Helena Orthopaedic Clinic for my ongoing care?

Yes, our providers will have access to your health records for your ongoing care. If you need copies of your medical records, please call 406-447-5904, or visit the St. Peter’s Health Medical Records Department in the Administration Building, 2500 Broadway.

If I’m in physical therapy, will my plan or location change?

You will still receive physical therapy in your current location. Your current physical therapy plan will only change if your care team deems it necessary.

Can I still access imaging, injections, or post-op care in the same way?

The only change to these services is the location. Most of these services can be provided at St. Peter’s Health Orthopedics on the third floor of the St. Peter’s Health Medical Group Broadway Clinic, located at 2550 Broadway in Helena. Some imaging services, such as an MRI, will be conducted at St. Peter’s Regional Medical Center, located at 2475 Broadway in Helena.

How will St. Peter’s Health communicate with me going forward?

As a St. Peter’s Health patient, you will now have access to our patient portal called MyChart, which gives you secure, one-stop online access to things like billing, managing appointments, messaging your provider, and other activities related to your care. If you already have a MyChart account with St. Peter’s, your account will be automatically updated to include appointments already scheduled.

If you’re not already using MyChart, you will receive information on how to activate your account when you check in for your first appointment at St. Peter’s Orthopedics. If you do not wish to have a MyChart account, our Orthopedic team will contact you directly via phone call or by mail.
